That time of the month
I’ve been reduced to blogging one a month, down from what was probably twice a week. I have to get back into the habit of putting down my thoughts and feelings, as it made it easier to write when I was working things out on paper… er, virtual paper.
I just re-read the reasons I listed last month as being my prime distractions and many of them still exist. Super Storm Sandy consequences are finally not impacting my life, which I am very fortunate to report. All those call backs my daughter was having resulted in her being cast in the Broadway Revival of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” starring Scarlett Johannson and my daughter’s new rehearsal schedule has serious affects on my schedule. Baseball is over, so that isn’t getting in my way as much, and I’ve made a solid effort to not get sucked into NBA, letting NFL be the only real sport I’m watching now. November is a record setting month for house guests however, which has been great seeing friends and family, but I haven’t been writing – throw in Thanksgiving while we’re at it and I have maybe 12-15 hours I’ve written all month. Though I’m happy to report I’ve completed a film treatment, and I’ve got 30 pages of a screenplay I’m really happy with; but haven’t had any time to add to my novel, only brief periods which I could edit it.
As it stands:
1- My play “Secondary” had it’s reading, I got great feedback, and I am almost ready to start my re-write
2 -My novel is on page 156 and I’ve completed Chapter 12. The rest of the novel is outlined, and I have been editing the pages I’ve already written and when I can block out a solid amount of time with out interruption I will start lucky chapter 13.
3- Untitled film project for next year has a complete treatment, and I’ve recruited the very talented Josh Walden to help me make it next summer.
4- Untitled horror film has complete treatment and is now on page thirty with another twenty-four pages that needs to be formatted
5- Television Pilots. Researching which shows to write an episode for, to put in my portfolio. Thinking of writing an episode of Big Bang Theory and a drama. I don’t really watch any network dramas though, so I have to figure that out.
So, today I’m going to look at a calendar and I’m going to mark down times I can write. I recently did that to resume my gym schedule and so far I’ve been pretty successful sticking to that.
